Progressive Thinking - Traditional Values. Four words that completely underpin what South East Heating Services are all about. Founded in 1984 following BP Oils withdrawal from heating maintenance. South East has moved into the new millennium embracing the challenges brought forward by growing environmental awareness and rapid technology advances while maintaining an exceptional personal service.

Based in the central borders of Scotland we are ideally placed to cover all of the Scottish Borders, North Northumberland and parts of Lothian. We provide a full range of installation, breakdown and servicing solutions covering oil, gas, LPG and solid fuel heating while specialising in AGA/Rayburn style cooking appliances.

THE OFFICE

Our office is open Monday to Friday 8:30am-5pm. It is managed by Debbie, Carly & Alice on a daily basis; answering calls, emails and helping customers with their needs. Our busy little office tries to get round to each customer as soon as we possibly can, offering you the support you need. If you require any assistance from the girls just give the office a call!

BREAKDOWN / SERVICE ENGINEERS

We offer a specialist breakdown team that cover all sorts of appliances and fuel types. we are predominately oil and this is our main focus within the business although we do have a few gas engineers. Due to the limited space we have for booking in gas jobs we tend to only take on new oil customers as this is our specialist area.

If you call us with a breakdown we try to get someone out to you that same day and when this is not possible we work around you to accommodate a more suitable time. If you are looking to book a service, on average we tend to have availability for them to be carried out within a a few weeks depending on the time of year. We advise getting your appliances serviced during the summer as we tend to switch our focus to solely breakdowns come the winter.

INSTALLERS

We are more than happy to design and quote for systems to be put into your home. Our wide range of knowledge and qualifications mean we can undertake most manners of work. We are approved installers of Oil, Gas, LPG, Solid fuel, Biomass and ASHP. If you wish for us to come and see you about upgrading your current system then do not hesitate to contact the office who will schedule in an appointment in our surveyors diary.

We also work as a subcontractor under the Warmworks scheme helping to deliver to those who are in fuel poverty within Scotland. Warmworks delivers the Scottish Government’s nationwide energy efficiency scheme, Warmer Homes Scotland. The scheme provides insulation, efficient heating and renewable technologies in the homes of households who are struggling with the cost of high energy bills. We have been working alongside them since 2015 and continue to have a very good working relationship with them.

APPRENTICES

We are very passionate about helping to develop young people especially in the work place. We strongly believe that the youth is the future and ingrain this into our business.

Currently, we have 2 apprentice whom are studying at Borders College. We have had many engineers complete their Plumbing & Heating qualification which is studied over the course of 4 years.

As well as this we believe strongly in further educating the office. We have now put 2 of our girls through their HNC in Admin & IT. Alice has been put through a Modern Apprenticeship and is now currently working towards getting her HNC in Admin & IT at Edinburgh College to help expand her knowledge and to get a grasp of working life.

The benefits we have found from having apprentices and bringing them on is that it not only teaches them but it helps to develop the business. This helps to improve the businesses performance because apprentices get relevant training, they can make a great contribution to our business. It is mainly ‘on-the-job’ training which we find brings apprentices on more meaning they add to productivity while gaining directly from the skills and experience of those around them.
